Masada's Executive Management Team

The Masada team is very knowledgeable about the CES OxyNol Process and highly experienced in project development. Key management team biographies are presented below. Masada’s capabilities are augmented by external resources for accounting/finance and some project management functions.
 

Donald V. Watkins - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

In 2000, Mr. Watkins co-founded Alamerica Bank in Birmingham, Alabama, where he serves as its Chairman. Alamerica is a full-service bank that has never sought or received federal bailout money.  Mr. Watkins owns Pencor Orange Corp., the designated Manager of the Masada entities, and the managing official of CESC.  Mr. Watkins also owns First Highland Group, LLC, a commercial real estate development company; W.S. Aviation, a privately-held aviation company; and Donald V. Watkins, P.C., a Birmingham, AL - based development company. Mr. Watkins holds a Bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama. Mr. Watkins is licensed to practice law in Alabama and Washington, D.C. He retired from the active practice of law in 2005.  Mr. Watkins serves on the Board of Directors of State Mutual Insurance Company in Rome, Georgia.

David J. Webster, P. E. - Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer

Mr. Webster leads Masada's development initiatives. Mr. Webster has extensive experience in the United States and abroad in commercial and environmental construction, geotechnical and construction administration. His previous professional and managerial positions were held with the Government of Bermuda, LAW Companies and Lurgi, Inc.  Mr. Webster received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Northern University and holds a MS in Environmental Management and Policy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. At RPI, he concentrated on biological processes and corporate environmental strategy.

Ralph Malone - Vice President for Program Management (Markets)

Mr. Malone is responsible for market development and human resource planning and alignment.  He is the past owner of metal fabrication and machining businesses serving the automotive and industrial sectors. He is a retired National Football League defensive end.  Mr. Malone earned a B.S. degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He has attended executive management programs at Dartmouth (Amos Tuck Business School) and Northwestern University (Kellogg Graduate School of Management). Mr. Malone is a member of the Board of Advisors - Blue Creek Investment Partners (Huntsville AL). He holds directorships (selected) with the Alabama Robotics Complex, Madison County (AL) Executive Airport Authority and Boys & Girls Clubs of Alabama

Donald V. Watkins, Jr. - Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer

Mr. Watkins, Jr. serves as the Company's Chief Administrative Officer.  He is a co-owner and board member of Alamerica BancCorp, Inc., a bank holding Company based in Birmingham, Alabama.  Prior to his appointment as CAO, he managed Donald V. Watkins, P.C., a business development Company, and First Highland Group, LLC, a property management firm.

Mr. Watkins, Jr. serves on the board of directors at Alamerica Bank, the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation Junior Board and the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Minority Health YP Board.

Mr. Watkins, Jr. holds a Bachelor of Arts from Morehouse College and a Master of Business Administration from Troy University.  He is also a graduate of the Louisiana State University's Graduate School of Banking.  He has earned several educational and training certifications from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Bank Administration Institute, the Independent Community Bankers of America and the Community Bankers Association of Alabama.

David Minkin - General Counsel

Mr. Minkin is a partner at Smith Gambrell & Russell, LLP, in Atlanta and has been Masada's General Counsel for more than a decade.  He has experience in the areas of tax credit real estate development, commercial real estate, financial restructuring, corporate finance, government relations and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Minkin has received several awards and distinctions. In 2009, he was awarded Best Lawyer in Real Estate Law.  He was a Georgia Super Lawyer in 2007 and 2008, and lastly, he was a Georgia Legal Elite Lawyer in 2008. He earned a B.A. degree from Cornell University in 1969 and a M.B.A. and J.D. from Harvard University in 1973. Mr. Minkin is admitted to the Georgia Bar, Massachusetts Bar and the New York Bar.

Allen Rossum - Vice President for Project Development-Latin America

Mr. Rossum serves as Vice President for Project Development for the Caribbean/South America.  He first joined Masada in 2008 as a Masada Fellow assigned to work directly with the Company's CEO, where he excelled in his international business development assignments.  His appointment follows an intense 14-month management training program on cellulosic ethanol production in international markets.  In his executive capacity, Mr. Rossum works directly with W2E Resources, S.A. (Masada's Dominican Republic affiliate), Tidores (Masada's Ecuadorian partner) and Coberal (Masada's South American joint-venture partner) to develop waste-to-ethanol projects in the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador.

Allen graduated from University of Notre Dame in 1998 with a dual degree in Business Administration and Computer Applications.  While attending Notre Dame, he received the Image Award for Athlete of the Year which is given to individuals who excel in both academics and sports.

Allen played professional football in the NFL for 12 years, and during his career he established several team and league records.  He also attended and completed the Wharton School of Business Transitioning with Success Initiative Program and the Kellogg School of Management's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programs.

 Thurbert E. Baker - Vice President for Global Marketing 

 Mr. Baker served as the State of Georgia's Attorney General from 1997-January 2011, and while in office fought crime, corruption and consumer fraud,.  He wrote and pushed through a ground-breaking mortgage fraud statute, and has also been a leader in areas of child protection, domestic abuse prevention, open government mediation and open meeting access.  He has been a leader among U.S. attorneys general and was elected as President of the National Association of Attorneys General.  Mr. Baker has been elected to the Georgia House of Representatives multiple times, and was House Floor Leader.  He holds a J.D. from Emory Law School and in his career has engaged in a variety of legal practices including as a lawyer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and managing his own law firm.  Mr. Baker serves or has served on multiple community and non-profit boards and for the past several years has been named as one of Georgia's most influential citizens.

Jessica S. Verduzco - Risk Mitigation Officer

Jessica S. Verduzco serves as Masada's risk mitigation specialist.  Ms. Verduzco owns Archer Commercial Insurance Group in Houston, Texas, a multi-line insurance firm responsible for assessing the Company's risk mitigation needs and securing the key risk mitigation insurance policies that form the backbone of the Company's performance assurance program.  This includes SPI, revenue floor, catastrophic event, failure and business disruption, terrorism and war risk, mechanical and equipment, political risk and general commercial insurance policies.  Ms. Verduzco was awarded a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in business administration with a marketing concentration from the University of Houston.

Jessica A. Findley - Director, Polyfuels Division

Ms. Findley joined the Company in 2010 as its market development officer for the newly formed polyfuels division. She attended Birmingham-Southern College (2004-2007) and Miles College (2008-2009) where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in political science.

Ms. Findley serves as President of the Women's Junior Chamber of Commerce (Birmingham, AL) and is a member of the United Nations, Birmingham Chapter.  As a college student, Ms. Findley co-wrote and presented a paper at the 49th Annual International Studies Association Convention.  In her senior year, she was among the first group of students selected for the Miles College Academy for Public Policy Leadership.

Ms. Findley has been an honors student, president's list, national dean's list and academic scholarship recipient in all of her post-secondary educational endeavors.

Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Findley worked as the market development officer for ProTire, a Birmingham-based tire recycling company, and as the economic development grant writer for the City of Bessemer, Alabama.
